What’s On Your Mind?
As mentioned, this is not a typical blog, consider this part of CIEL AMBRÈ, the journal of my thoughts. I intend for our content to both be highly opinionated and informative because my goal is to deliver an authentically human experience. Often in the technical and cybersecurity industry there is a huge focus on fact and black and white details that do not account for nuance. This creates a disconnect and divide that makes understanding technical concepts impossible if you are not passionate about the subject. I believe the everyday family should be able to start somewhere and make small changes over time that make a large difference because the truth of the matter is that security practices are always changing and you will never be able to be completely off the grid in today’s society.
Opinion is Realistic
School unintentionally conditions us to believe that there must be a right and wrong answer for everything in life. If you are an adult reading this, you’ve likely come to the understanding by now that most things do not have a right answer. Realistically most things in life boil down to a series of decisions colored by circumstance and context. This means that there is no universal right or wrong, however there are decisions and choices that make the most sense for the current situation.
For example, if someone is down to their last $60 until their next check which is 2 days away, should they purchase the “healthy” meal a couple of times daily that cost roughly $15 or opt for a cheaper fast food alternative such as McDonald’s at roughly $8?
There’s already no right answer here because it’s all about preference. While the fast food option saves some money, which you could argue should be a priority since the person is down to the last bit of their previous check, the person could choose the healthy option because it’s better for their mood and productivity. Additionally, if we add context and say that the individual has high blood pressure, the healthier option seems like the clear choice regardless of funds.
My point here is that professionals often forget that there are no perfect circumstances and at times it is necessary to bend rules and understanding. As our world becomes more complex and more technical I believe it will become even more clear to people that there are no right answers. I encourage everyone to seek out information and form their own opinions because that is the only way to make the right decision for you and your family.
Chicken Little
Whether you agree with my opinions or disagree, I hope to present topics in an optomistic manner. The last thing we all need is another Chicken Little claiming the sky is falling.
Instead, I’m just a chicken with an opinion at 5am waiting for another Amber Sky.
Another CIEL AMBRÈ, to be more specific.
